I-95 Interchange 33
Funding was allocated to add a northbound on-ramp at Ferry Boulevard and a southbound off-ramp near Barnum Avenue Cutoff and Veterans Boulevard on the I-95 Moses Wheeler Bridge replacement project. As part of the plan, the bridge carrying I-95 over East Main Street will be widened to accommodate the new northbound on-ramp.
These ramps, which will greatly aid access to retail locations in Stratford and improve the local economy, were orginally not built when I-95 was a toll road. The ramps were purposely excluded to inhibit drivers from getting off the highway to avoid paying the toll.
Construction is projected to begin in 2017.
