Human Service Transportation Coordination

Human Service Transportation Coordination

Identifying gaps in transportation services to help the elderly and persons with disabilities get to where they need to go.

MetroCog works closely with Greater Bridgeport Transit (GBT), the South West Region Planning Agency (SWRPA), other transit districts and municipal human service transportation providers on updating and maintaining the locally coordinated human service transportation plan (LOCHSTP) for the Bridgeport-Stamford urban area.

The LOCHSTP program coordinates various FTA human service transportation funding programs including those targeted at elderly persons and persons with disabilities and job access and reverse commute services.

The LOCHSTP plan identifies the gaps in human service transportation and recommends the enhancements to existing services necessary to fill the gaps. A key project has been the funding of a mobility manager to coordinate service gaps and needs and respond and address concerns, issues and deficiencies of target users.
