ITS Architecture

Intelligent Transportation Systems, or ITS, have been defined as: “the application of advanced sensor, computer, electronics, and communication technologies and management strategies, in an integrated manner, to improve the safety and efficiency of the surface transportation system”.

The development of this sytem is based on a clear understanding and commitment by planning agencies, operating agencies, and key decision makers in the region that a regional ITS architecture is needed and will be put to good use.
