Regional Comprehensive Plan

Regional Comprehensive Plan

The plan serves as the long-term planning framework for the Greater Bridgeport region. It provides a broad context in which local and regional decisions can be made that move the region toward a sustainable future — a future with more choices and opportunities for all residents of the region.

In 2015, MetroCog updated its Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD), also referred to as the Regional Comprehensive Plan (RCP). The Plan will better integrate our local land use and transportation decisions, and focus attention on where and how we want to grow.

The plan was adopted in December 2015.

The RCP contains an incentive-based approach to encourage and channel growth into existing and future urban areas and smart growth communities. It will additionally provide guidance to local jurisdiction as they update their local plans of conservation and development.

Ultimately, the Plan is a reflection of our member municipality’s goals and aspirations for the future.
