GBRC Receives EPA Brownfield Grant
The GBRC was one of 140 applicants selected in the 2012 competitive round of EPA Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup (ARC) Grants. The GBRC Brownfield project will focus on several tasks including informative community outreach meetings with residents in close proximity to Brownfields, environmental onsite investigations and assessments by an environmental consultant who will develop a remedial action plan for the properties and the establishment of a Brownfield working group to determine strategies for redevelopment of the sites.
The EPA grant will also compliment GBRC transportation planning studies and other projects such as the East Side Bridgeport Barnum Train Station feasibility study, the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) study for Bridgeport and Stratford and the Connecticut DECD Brownfield GIS Website project for the City of Bridgeport. The GBRC would like to thank Regional Plan Association (RPA), Community Capital Fund, CT Coalition for Environmental Justice, the Bridgeport Public Library, the Nature Conservancy, the Partnership for Strong Communities, Greater Bridgeport Transit, and CT DECD in their support of the application.
